Job Description

Coordinate and participate in a variety of activities involved in recruitment and consent of research subjects and study administration including documentation and reporting. This position reports to the study Principal Investigator and the Research Practice Manager of the SON Clinical Research Unit.

Essential Duties
  • Recruitment/Consent a. Distribute recruitment materials as outlined in approved IRB protocols. b. Brainstorm with the PI about ways to recruit research participants. c. Prioritize, coordinate and track contact with potential subjects. Maintain tracking database and enrollment log tokeep accurate records to report recruitment statistics to PI and the IRB for continuing renewals. d. Conduct and document consent within the approved IRB process including documentation and storage of consents.
  • Subject Enrollment a. Keep and maintain detailed records of subjects enrolled in the study, and relevant lost subject/withdrawn data when applicable. b. Provide enrollment counts to PI when requested, as well as counts for how many subjects have completed the study. c. Schedule (and re-schedule when necessary) and confirm in-person appointments. d. Prepare materials for each in-person session. This includes ordering necessary copies and organizing papers prior to the session.
  • Regulatory a. Assist with submitting study amendments, RDSPamendments, and personnel changes to eIRB. b. Maintain up-to-date regulatory binder c. Maintain up-to-date delegation of authority log d. Maintain up-to-date enrollment log e. Assist PI with any internal QI review, audits or external audits.
  • Communication/Reports a. Provide requested information about enrolled subjects to PI and study staff and facilitators b. Communicate with other staff about issues/situations that may arise regarding study procedures. c. Participate in conference calls with collaborators at outside institutions regarding material revisions and standard procedures for the study
  • Organization a. Ensure that all study materials used are those approved by the IRB. b. Keep study documents and materials up to date on the SED drive. c. Create and maintain filing systemsand study logs. Label and instruct other study personnel how to find files and materials
  • Administrative a. Ensure all study personnel maintain required training requirements.
  • Miscellaneous a. Complete and process subject payment forms. b. Follow Duke procedures in regard to collecting IRB Data Disclosure form and requirements around SSN# storage and payment processing. c. Perform other related and requested duties incidental to the work.

Skills: Previous research experience. Can easily use computing software and web-based applications (ie. Microsoft Office products and internet browsers).
