Responsibilities

  • Perform binding antibody assays under Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) compliance with implementation of streamlining and novel strategies to improve assay performance.
  • Independently manage projects within the laboratory related to binding antibody evaluations.
  • Collaborate with investigators related to study design and sample collection, running assays, working with the team to QC data, work with Biostatisticians to analyze data and provide summary reports.
  • Design and implement innovative strategies and techniques for more comprehensively performing and/or analyzing the humoral response.
  • Assist with processing various biological specimen types for use in assays (IgG depletion and elution, mucosal sample extraction).
  • Assist in managing laboratory space in terms of keeping a well-stocked inventory and maintaining equipment.
  • Assist with optimization and validation of established and novel binding antibody assays. This may include assay and/or SOP development and working with the Quality Assurance Unit to submit required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain laboratory notebook/documentation in an orderly and accurate fashion for tracking experiments and results.
  • Provide summary of written updates of work each week.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator and lab leadership.

Education

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology or other directly related scientific field.

Experience

Work requires two years of research experience. A related master's degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Preferences:
  • Bachelor's degree in biological science or related field
  • Two years of related research experience.
  • Must be able to manage multiple and rapidly changing priorities and have ability to quickly learn new skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, well organized with strong communication skills and ability to work in an interactive team environment.
