STAFF SPECIALIST
DCI CANCER CONTROL (CPDC)

Position provides direct support for the administrative and clinical operations in the Duke Smoking Cessation Program, including the Duke UNC Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification Program, within Supportive Care and Survivorship Center of the Duke Cancer Institute.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

Provide administrative support to the Smoking Cessation Program Medical Director and staff, including ordering supplies and materials, scheduling and coordinating meetings, managing team calendars, and answering general calls to the Smoking Cessation Program. (10%)
Provide administrative support to the clinical operations of the Smoking Cessation Program, including answering calls to the 613-QUIT line and providing information on services; managing InBasket patient referrals; contacting patients and scheduling appointments; conducting follow-up calls to remind patients about scheduled appointments. (40%) Provide administrative support to the Duke UNC Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification Program, including responding to participant questions by e-mail and telephone, maintaining registration and certification lists, managing logistics for each training, and coordinating meetings. (50%)

Education

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical, research and communications principles normally acquired through two years of postsecondary education.

Experience

Work generally requires three years of clerical or research experience to acquire skills in administrative or project research responsibilities as well as accepted office organization, communications and research practices. A bachelor's degree in a field of study directly related to the specific position may be substituted for the education and two years of the experience requirement.
