Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas invites applications for appointment as a continuing lecturer in Digital/Print Journalism beginning Fall 2017. The ideal candidate should be prepared to teach classes in news writing and reporting for digital and print applications and other courses as needed by the department. We are seeking a journalist with experience in data-driven investigative reporting, data visualization, data mining, social media analytics, and/or coding. Experience teaching online courses is a plus. The faculty member should help advance the school's commitment to preparing students for a diverse and multi-platform media environment. The faculty member will participate in department activities and serve on departmental and school committees. Excellence in teaching and mentoring students is expected.

Applicants must have a master's degree in journalism or in a relevant field at the time of appointment. Applicants must have professional experience in the journalism industry. Applicants with a master's degree in other disciplines who have extensive professional news experience will be considered.
The ideal candidate will have strong journalism writing and reporting skills, including data journalism, data visualization, data mining, social media analytics, and/or coding, as well as experience teaching college-level courses. The candidate should be prepared to develop and teach online classes. The candidate should be able to mentor diverse students.
