Occupational Summary:
Coordinate plans for the professional development of the nursing staff as-signed to a specialty unit area and serve as a practitioner of specialized patient care.

Work Performed:
  • Coordinate plans for the professional development of the nursing staff assigned to a specialty unit area and serve as a practitioner of specialized patient care.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of an educational program designed to convey specialized knowledge and skills tonursing personnel.
  • Coordinate with the nursing staff to identify patient care problems, to implement approaches to these problems and to evaluate the effectiveness of the approaches.
  • Serve as a resource person in a nursing specialty area for patients, nurses and other health team members throughout Duke University Medical Center and community agencies.
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance Program in Nursing for the development, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
  • Maintain liaison with faculty members of schools of nursing to arrange and facilitate clinical experience for nursing students; communicate with faculty members concerning students' needs and progress.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. State of North Carolina RN licensure is also required.

Experience
