Job Summary/Basic Function:
The University of North Texas invites applications for Department Chair for the newly established Department of Social Work. The department chair position is a 12-month appointment with a negotiable start date. The Chair must be an innovative and collaborative leader with the capacity to build a new academic program, cultivate strong institutional and community relationships, and foster student success.
The Department of Social Work is a new department within the college. It houses a well-established and successful BSW program that is fully accredited by CSWE. It has just established a joint masters of social work in conjunction with Texas Woman's University, which is also located in Denton. UNT and TWU's BSW programs have worked in close collaboration for decades and faculty in both programs are excited to move forward with the joint MSW. The successful candidate will play a significant role in establishing and developing this new MSW program, while continuing to support and cultivate the BSW.
The successful candidate should currently hold a tenured position and have a strong record of administrative experience within an academic setting, including success in building programs and mentoring new faculty. The successful candidate should have a strong record of scholarship and teaching excellence. The position reports to the Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service.

* MSW in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program
* A minimum of 2-years of social work practice experience after completion of the MSW
* Tenure at their current institution
* A minimum of 5 years of college-level teaching experience
* A minimum of 5 years of administrative experience, including at least 3 years of administrative experience within an academic setting
* Evidence of scholarly and teaching and administrative excellence sufficient to qualify for the rank of professor or associate professor with tenure at UNT
