Job Description: Maritime College invites prospective or current graduate students interested in Housing and Residential Life to submit an application for the Residence Hall Intern position. The Residence Life Intern will serve as a paraprofessional member of the Housing and Residential Life staff.

This position is a 10-month, live-in position responsible for the operation of 1-2 residence halls. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the intern is responsible for developing a community based environment that supports students' academic, social, and ethical awareness.

Descriptions of Duties include but are not limited to:The Residence Hall Intern is required to work 20 hours per week in the office between the hours of 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Interview and participate in the training of Resident Advisors.
  • Investigate policy violations outlined in the Guide to Campus Housing, Student Code of Conduct, and Regiment of Cadets.
  • Responsible for crisis intervention,conflict mediation,and follow up procedures.
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings; organize staff development activities.
  • Assume a rotational on-call responsibility.

*Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Enrolled in a Graduate program

Desired Qualifications

  • 1-2 years Residence Hall experience

Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: Residence Hall Intern is a UUP Position. The anticipated salary range for this position is $12,000 - $14,000 annually. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will commence immediately and conclude when the position is filled.

Special Notes: This is a part- time, 10 month live-in appointment. If applicable, all incumbents are required to live in an apartment within the hall to which assigned. FLSA exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
