Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Geography at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The George Washington University is located in downtown Washington, D.C. and offers BA and MS degrees in Geography, a BA in Environmental Studies, Minors in Geography and GIS, and a graduate certificate in GIS. Faculty members in the Department are actively involved in the Environmental Studies Program, the Center for Urban and Environmental Research (CUER), and the Elliott School of International Affairs. Research foci in the department include urban environment issues, Arctic regions and migration.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The succesfull candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Biogeography, Physical Geography, spatial techniques, and their field of interest, conduct research and produce scholarship in such areas as spatial ecology, biological diversity, global environmental change, and ecosystem services.Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Geography or an allied field by the date of appointment, a specialty in Biogeography and possess a strong background in landscape/spatial ecology and geospatial analysis.
