The Office of Admissions at CU Boulder has an opening for an Admission Counselor. This person will be responsible for representing the University of Colorado to various constituents including prospective students, family members, high school counselors and community leaders. This individual will assist in the development of a recruitment strategy in a designated regional territory and will execute a wide range of recruitment activities including high school visits, college fairs, area receptions and individual meetings.
The Admission Counselor will join a staff where enrollment goals are clearly shaped and related admissions programming is carefully executed. A passion for results and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a team-focused and heavily performance driven environment are essential.
What your key responsibilities will be:
Create a recruitment schedule and strategy based on specific, targeted high schools throughout an assigned regional territory. Represent CU Boulder to a broad range of constituents at college fairs, community college visits, large-scale receptions and other recruitment activities. Regularly pull and analyze historical data to inform recruitment strategy.
Outreach and Constituent Communication
Conduct admission presentations to various populations. Advises and counsels prospects, applicants, and students on University admissions policies, procedures, and requirements. Develop and maintain effective communication with constituents in the university, high school, other institutions of higher education, government agencies, community based organizations and professional organizations regarding the admission of students to CU Boulder. Participate in admission related programs and activities such as campus visitation programs and new student orientation activities.
Review and render admission decisions on undergraduate applications independently and as an active member of the admission review committee.
Leadership and Training
Serve as the project lead within an inner office team and/or as a liaison to campus offices. Participate in staff development activities including university workshops, conferences and programs, and state and national professional organizations. Manage, train, supervise, and evaluate support staff, including student staff. Participate in all staff development activities.

Extensive overnight, evening and weekend work is required.

What we require:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- A valid driver's license

- Ability to work well with high school and college age students as well as racially and ethnically diverse populations
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong public speaking skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team
- As a role model for prospective students, the candidate should have a strong and positive university experience as a student and campus community member
What we'd like you to have:
- A bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder
- Involvement in a university's clubs or organizations
- Recent graduate who has represented a university in some capacity (for example, as a Student Ambassador, Resident Advisor, student employee, etc.)
- Conversationally fluent in Spanish
