We are currently seeking a Drilling Training Specialist who will advance the institution's proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.
You: We're looking for an Oil and Gas industry professional like you to teach our corporate customers and open-enrollment students about the exciting world of O&G drilling. Your experience makes you the ideal instructor because you can impart both practical on-the-job tips and industry knowledge and expertise.
Your mission: At HCC, we're committed to preparing students for great new careers and enhancing professional opportunities for those already established in careers. We'll count on you to design and teach a curriculum that will equip our students with O&G drilling knowledge and skills.
Your work: You'll deliver training for both offshore and onshore drilling industry segments, establishing courses that follow best-practice educational standards; teaching students using a variety of proven effective methodologies; and providing engagement and support activities that encourage student learning.
When you're not teaching, you might be assisting students with opportunities for work (co-ops, part-time, work-study) and careers; evaluating program curricula and/or practices; advising declared majors; or reviewing textbooks and learning materials. You'll also assist the program director and program manager with planning and budgeting, and participate in various other Oil & Gas Drilling Center activities.

Associate's degree in a related field is required. Four years of drilling experience may be substituted in lieu of the Associates. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Three (3) years industrial safety / crane operator, deck supervisor or other related O&G drilling work experience required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Be willing and able to obtain industry certification training certifications such as:
Possess excellent oral and written communications skills
Possess the ability to work in a diverse work environment
Willing and able to teach day or evening classes at a number of sites around the city
Knowledge and skill in a variety of computer usage and software are required
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population
Possess good organizational and planning skills
Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment
Self-disciplined and able to effectively manage others
