The Contract and Grant Officer works independently to negotiate awards and research contracts in adherence to sponsoring agency and University of Miami requirements. Under general supervision, the Contract and Grant Officer is responsible for providing institutional-level sponsored research administration services to a portfolio of academic departments and research units among all University campuses.

• Under managerial supervision of the Manager and Director approval, review, analyze, and negotiate all terms and conditions of grants and contracts on behalf of the University from all Sponsor types consistent with University and Sponsor guidelines.
• Provide advice to faculty and staff regarding sponsored research administration issues, interpreting a broad range of sponsor policies, government regulations and terms and conditions.
• Provide outstanding customer service and support to faculty in understanding the issues related to items described in research contracts and grants.
• Collaborate with other University groups such as Principal Investigators and study teams, Compliance, IRB (Human Subject Research Office), Risk Management, sponsors and other relevant offices to ensure that sponsored research projects are managed in an efficient and effective manner consistent with UM policies and procedures, and applicable agency guidelines, laws and regulations.
• Provide metrics to Manager and Director on an ongoing basis.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent undergraduate degree.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education and/or experience will be considered.

Work Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of two years previous relevant experience in contracting and/or research administration experience.
