Job Description

Position Summary: The Outbound Sortation Manager is responsible for managing the day to day activities of the department, ensuring the highest level quality of service provided by our associates, while supporting the policies, goal, and objectives of the company. The Manager be responsible for overseeing approximately 80 Associates including Mobile Equipment Operators.

Essential Functions:
  • Identify workload of within area of responsibility and shift Associates
  • Give directions Associates, follow-up work for accuracy, effectiveness and efficiency in accordance with the company policies and procedures
  • Identify problems, research root cause, and create actionable solutions
  • Alongside Senior Management; develop roadmaps of continuous improvement, enhance process and area performance.
  • Manage staff schedule in accordance to budget and/or business needs by utilizing the staffing model designed by department
  • Ensure follow through and compliance with Food Safety, Safety Compliance and follow FD's policies around quality and process
  • Be a change agent by identifying areas of improvement, implementing new processes and documenting them accordingly with the partnership of Sr. Management
  • Attend meetings with Associates and Management to implement action plans and oversee accountability of assigned processes.
  • Provide Sr. Managers with employee evaluations, trend analysis and reports
  • Guide, direct and motivate staff around performance management and labor planning
  • Provide consistent coaching and development to staff including, but not limited to, ongoing training, quality monitoring, and delivering disciplinary actions
  • Ensure that all employees are meeting statistical targets and provide action plans for those that fall below expectations
  • Resolve employee grievances and concerns and partner with HR on high level investigations
  • Support and participate various company projects, initiatives and programs as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and / or Holidays and be able to keep a flexible schedule during high volume production periods.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in warehouse operations management
  • Three plus (3+) years' experience in a supervisory position
  • Experience with warehouse management systems; SAP experience a plus
  • Associates Degree in related discipline with specialized leadership training and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience and education
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours, willing and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • English Required Bilingual preferred in English and Spanish

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Proven ability to lead, train and develop a team
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of department production processes, materials and production techniques
  • Principles and procedures of personnel Recruiting, Selection and Training
  • Ability to manage, motivate and lead during periods of change and disruption
  • Ability to counsel and discipline in a positive atmosphere
  • Previous knowledge or experience with specialized inventory, warehouse operations systems
  • Food production, sanitation and food safety knowledge, HACCP a plus
