Design Engineer - Mechanical
Design Engineer (Mechanical) for Burr Ridge, IL: Perform engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives according to conventional plans and specifications. Review customer source control drawings, specification control drawings and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of product. Apply knowledge of mathematical formulas and physical laws and use conventional and computerized work aids to make calculations. Perform preliminary and advanced work in development of working layouts and final master drawings, adequate for detailing arts and units of design for new proposals and current designs. Design engineer responsible for working with mechanical structures, frames and electrical and hydraulic routings. Perform design calculations and prepares equipment or material specifications. Must be familiar engineering design, revision and release best practices. Ability to perform designs and create manufacturing prints using AutoCAD, Pro-E and/or CATIA. Interact with vendors and customers on engineering design issues. Design studies, tolerance stack-ups, layouts, drawings, calculations, weight estimates, supporting documentation, etc. are to be completed using AutoCAD, Pro-E and/or CATIA. Perform liaison function between Engineering staff and all internal and customer departments, May supervise or coordinate the work of additional designers and other technical support personnel. Mentor less experienced designers and drafters. Check design work of other engineering department members, including layout, form, fit, function, materials, specification callouts, geometrics, dimensioning, and other out-put as directed. Participate in engineering and general design reviews as required internally and with customers. Keep supervisor advised of work status, work load, problems, and progress as related to work assignments. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required, will consider 3 years of experience equal to one year of college towards Bachelor's Degree, foreign equivalent accepted.
