~~The Staff Accountant is responsible for areas relating to accounts payable and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for performing procedures to ensure accurate and timely cash flow and financial statements. The Staff Accountant addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including accounts payable, bank reconciliation, management reporting and year-end audit preparation. The Staff Accountant will have continual contact with senior-level executives and shareholders which will require strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Daily Updates of the AccPac system parameters.
Assist the accounting manager in an accurate and timely monthly and year end close.
Preparation of Analysis for Senior Management on cash flow, Co-op and other sales related accruals, Customer Sales and selected other expenses
Accounts Payable processing including initial coding, obtaining approvals, input to the AccPac accounting system, developing cash requirements and check processing.
Reconciling bank statements
Coding and analysis of all corporate credit cards
Annual audit account analysis
Special Analysis and Reports on request from Senior Management
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting preferred
Technical Skills and Prior Experience
Two to Three years prior experience in the accounts payable/general ledger area. Experience working in a footwear or apparel firm is preferred.
Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a dynamic setting with high visibility to executive management. Experience with AccPac or other automated accounting system a plus. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
