RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: The candidate will assist in neurodegenerative disease research using established and novel techniques including biochemistry, histology, cell culture and molecular biology. The candidate will be expected to work closely with several transgenic mouse lines, survival and non-survival surgery, breeding, precise record keeping and sample processing/analysis. In addition to these duties, the candidate will be expected to perform in vitro experiments on various cell lines (transfections, transductions, immuno-cytochemistry) and also perform biochemical studies (ELISA, WB and protein extraction).The candidate must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Multi-tasking is key and other duties will include maintenance of equipment (in both the main lab and the surgery facilities), preparation of stock laboratory reagents, and keeping an organized, up to date laboratory notebook. Candidate will be expected to attend regular laboratory meetings and activities of the Center.
Position is contingent on continued funding.
Qualifications: BA/BS in Biology, Neuroscience or a related field and 0-1 year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. A minimum commitment of two years is preferred. Prior lab experience is desirable but not essential. Computer literacy (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Photoshop) will be an advantage.
