The interior designer assesses and develops housing system-wide space plans, arrangements and upfit. Develops and manages interior design projects including furniture layout and selection and finish color and material selections. Provides direction in University Housing with respect to space planning and design. Prepares designs utilizing AutoCad. Formulates and documents necessary plans and specifications. Directs and manages the interior planning and design on University Housing construction and renovation projects, including preparing cost estimates. Oversees work of outside contractors in the installation of equipment, flooring, furnishings, wall and window treatment, etc. for compliance with contract documents. Selects and procures equipment, flooring, furnishings, wall finishes, and window treatments for University Housing. Maintains accurate accounting records of procurements. Manages state contracts, where applicable, to include carpet and furniture. Investigates, researches, analyzes and reports on new materials and processes associated with departmental quality improvements. Maintains database of residence hall furnishings.
Bachelor's degree in related field and 1 year experience, or high school diploma and 5 years drafting experience; or equivalency.
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and 1 year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
