The Department of Instruction and Teacher Education at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a full-time (12-month) non-tenure track faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor to begin immediately in the accelerated, online Doctor of Education Degree Program (Ed.D.) in Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) with a focus in Curriculum Studies (CS). This unique program allows professionals to address the important and complex problems of practitioners who work in education and related fields.
The successful applicant will join a diverse faculty and be expected to: (1) provide administrative leadership to the program, including monitoring course scheduling and rotations for students, collecting and reporting accreditation data, collaborating with the Office of Student Services, and supporting the program coordinator in the development and maintenance of the degree; (2) teach courses for the program such as Dissertation in Practice Preparation, Action Research Methods/Designs, and other courses in curriculum studies; (3) advise program students; and (4) provide service to the program, department, and college and/or university.

Applicants must have (1) an earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction or a related field; (2) successful experience teaching adult learners online using Blackboard or other course management software; (3) expertise in one or more of the following areas: action research methodologies, curriculum theory and design, equity education; and (4) demonstrated ability to incorporate innovative pedagogies and technologies in teaching methods.
Preference will be given to candidates who: (1) have successful experience in student advisement, program management, and/or liaising with multiple offices/stakeholders; (2) demonstrate a commitment to academic goals that attempt, where feasible, to permit school-based and/or community-based learning; (3) guide doctoral students in the integration of Curriculum Studies and social justice; (4) demonstrate a professional and personal demeanor with graduate students; and (5) have successful experience mentoring graduate student research and leading dissertation in practice within action research methodology/design.
