Senior Assistant/Associate Director and International Recruiter

 

Allegheny College, a small selective liberal arts college located in northwest Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Senior Assistant Director of Admissions and International Recruiter Coordinator/Associate Director of Admissions and International Recruiter Coordinator.  This is a full-time exempt administrative position reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions. 

Responsibilities for this position incorporate the full range of admission duties.  Activities include, but are not limited to: managing both international and domestic recruitment initiatives; serve as point person for all international prospective students; review international applications, and make recommendations for admission based on criteria agreed upon by appropriate academic staff; build strong relationships with counselors abroad, and when possible, develop mutually beneficial partnerships; travel to priority markets for recruitment purposes and provide reports on these activities (five to eight weeks of international and domestic travel); collaborate with Office of College Relations to provide suggestions on the content of recruitment publications specific to international students; help manage relationships with alumni abroad, and work closely with alumni in order to recruit students; effective correspondence with prospective students and other constituents including written communication, interviewing and group presentations; and event planning.  Many of these responsibilities entail evening and weekend commitments. 

This position requires a high degree of initiative, creativity and self-direction. Three or more years of recruiting or advising international populations is preferred.  Proficiency in additional languages, although not required, is ideal. 

A bachelor’s degree, valid driver’s license, and passport are required.  A cell phone that allows for engagement in social media is also required.  Graduates of Allegheny College or other competitive, residential, liberal arts colleges with prior admission experience, (as a professional or student), are preferred.  We seek candidates who can effectively and excitedly articulate the nature and aims of a traditional liberal arts experience and the distinct features of Allegheny.  A team-oriented outlook, analytical and organizational skills, adaptability, a high energy level, a positive, professional attitude, as well as first-rate writing and public speaking skills are essential.
