Job Description
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Public Health, beginning Fall 2016. This tenure track position is being offered at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and to lead development of the UNT Dallas public health department, which offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in public health. This new faculty member will also provide leadership in developing curricula and experiential learning opportunities, with internships in multiple public health sectors and service-learning throughout the community. The successful candidate will be expected to develop the public health major as a premier, highly visible program at UNT Dallas.

We are particularly interested in student-centric, innovative, and energetic candidates who can help lead the development of UNTD's public health department through program development, student recruitment, and community outreach. We seek an experienced leader and public health generalist who can contribute to the public health program by teaching a range of courses, including Introduction to Public Health, Principles of Human Nutrition, School and Community Health, Health Promotion, Principles of Health, and Epidemiology of Communicable and Non-Communicable Disease. This new faculty member will also be responsible for developing online courses; a student public health club; Early College High School programs throughout the DFW area; and collaborative relationships with area clinics, hospitals, and research laboratories.

Responsibilities: Expectations for tenure track faculty at UNTD include excellent teaching, research, and service, resulting in contributions equivalent to a four-course load each semester. This workload expectation can be fulfilled through a combination of teaching, high quality research and scholarship, service, and program development. Faculty are also expected to participate in such service activities as curriculum development, student recruiting and advising, program assessment, and committee leadership.

Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Public Health or other closely related field
• Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
• Experience in teaching a range of public health courses, such as Introduction to Public Health, Principles of Human Nutrition, School and Community Health, Health Promotion, and Principles of Health
• Experience in developing collaborative partnerships in health sectors
• Experience or demonstrated potential in building, maintaining, and supervising a broad-based student internship program
• Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship and community service
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in curriculum development and developing interdisciplinary degree programs
• Experience in building and supervising student organizations
• Experience in developing and implementing service learning and experiential learning in curricular and co-curricular settings
• Experience in promoting and marketing academic programs in the health services sector
• Academic experience working with a culturally diverse population

Work is primarily sedentary. Sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting items weighing up to 15 pounds.
