Academic Advisor in the Department of KNH, with primary responsibilities in academic advising for students interested in any of the five majors: Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Nutrition, Public Health, and Sport Leadership and Management; 11-month position (August - June).


The Department of Kinesiology and Health (KNH) advances the understanding of health, physical activity and related cultural practices to improve life quality and promote healthful, active living. The Academic Advisor will provide individual academic advising and assist in academic planning and decision making; utilize DARS, Banner, and SSC-Campus to review, create and maintain files for undergraduates to record and track students’ progress toward degree requirements; make referrals to appropriate resources and offices; initiate outreach programs for “at-risk” students; explore and implement new advising and communication initiatives; represent majors in the Department of KNH to prospective students and families; assist with open houses and other recruitment initiatives; assist with orientation programs for first year, transfer, and international students; teach First Year Experience (FYE) course(s) each semester; other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.


Require:  Master’s degree in Advising or related field; one or more years of advising experience (including experience gained during an educational program) in a university or college setting in academic, career, study abroad and/or related areas; excellent written and oral communication (including public speaking), organizational, technological, and collaborative skills.


Desire:   Master’s degree Counseling, College student personnel, or a Kinesiology & Health-related field.
