Duties: The Director of Development for the Field Center for Children's Policy, Practice & Research, an interdisciplinary collaboration of the Schools of Social Policy & Practice, Law, Medicine and Nursing and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, will serve to direct and facilitate development efforts to support the center's work focused on child welfare level reform. S/he is responsible for overseeing all fundraising efforts for the Field Center; creating and implementing a comprehensive development plan for the center; developing a pipeline of prospective major gift ($25,000+) prospects; identifying, cultivating, and soliciting potential donors; providing primary stewardship for all Field Center donors; developing targeted fundraising campaigns; researching opportunities for corporate and foundation giving; creating and distributing regular updates and reports to donors and prospects; working on fundraising events; and grant writing. This full-time position will be charged with expanding the Field Center's current pool of donors and attracting new donors outside of the University. The Director of Development has a dual report to the Field Center's Executive Director and the School of Social Policy & Practice's Associate Dean of Development & Alumni Relations.

Qualifications: Minimum of bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years' experience as a Major Gifts Officer, Development Officer, and/or Director of Development. Strong preference for candidates with dedicated fundraising experience in the non-profit sector and interest in the welfare of children. Successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to raise and sustain major gifts ($25,000 and above). Preference for candidates with experience in securing foundation grants, planning and executing fundraising events, and track record in donor stewardship. Good organizational skills, ability to work independently as well as part of a team desired. Must be able to travel, including overnight and out of state, and work nights and occasional weekends. Valid driver's license required.
