Duties: A Research Specialist is needed in the University of Pennsylvania Department of Psychology. The Research Specialist will conduct experiments on the neural, physiological and anatomical basis of energy balance control (food intake, energy expenditure and weight control). Duties include rodent surgery, behavioral, physiological and molecular analysis and testing; data organization and analysis (using spreadsheets, graphs and statistical packages); coordinating activities of undergraduate assistants; ordering lab supplies; and participating in scientific discussions about experimental design and interpretation of results.
This position is contingent upon funding.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree is required and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; coursework in Biology/Psychobiology and laboratory experience preferred but not required; ability to work independently with attention to detail; good communication skills.
