The Beirne B. Carter Center for Immunology Research at the University of Virginia seeks a part-time, 20-hour per week Laboratory Technician to provide technical support for the PI, graduate students, and research associates. The position is responsible for laboratory maintenance and organization, laboratory orders, and purchasing. The incumbent is also responsible for ordering supplies and reagents inventory, record keeping, protocol development, mouse genotyping and inventory, and genetic screening.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in an applicable science (biochemistry, biology, immunology, microbiology or cell biology) with a minimum of 1 year laboratory experience. Equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. Experience obtained as a student may be considered. Knowledge of molecular biology and recombinant DNA, nucleic acid quantization, quantitative real-time PCR, DNA sequencing and genotyping is required.
This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
