General Summary: The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Criminal Justice to support growing Associate of Science, Bachelors of Science and Master of Science degree programs. The department is seeking candidates who can teach courses in legal areas of criminal justice, such as Criminal Law, Criminal Procedures, Constitutional Law, and others. The workload may require travel across campuses, teaching at off-campus teaching sites, online teaching, and evening and weekend teaching assignments. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities Include teaching four (4) courses per semester; Courses may include both on campus and online formats.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses related to the applicant's area of professional expertise and complete scholarship and service activities.


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • A juris-doctorate degree and satisfactory status with the Bar. The Department would prefer a Ph.D. in criminal justice or a related field as well.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who:
    • Have a background in or an ability to teach courses in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedures, Evidence, Constitutional Law, and other courses related to the applicant's area of expertise. The Department is interested in candidate's who can teach Homeland Security.
    • Have undergraduate teaching experience and work experience in the field of criminal justice.
    • Have strong verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation skills.
    • Are willing to support departmental commitments to a variety of traditional and non-traditional student populations by participating in online teaching assignments, off-campus teaching assignments, multi-campus teaching assignments, and weekend and evening teaching assignments.
    • Have experience with on-line teaching and on-line course development.
    • Are committed to advising students; serving on department, college, and university level committees; and attending University events.
