Degree and Area of Specialization: Ph.D. in Biologicial Sciences or related field required, an emphasis on the biochemistry, cell biology, immunology or genetics is preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: Post Doctoral experience in a research laboratory is required. Research in the following areas is preferred: Signal transduction, immunology, biochemistry, cell biology, autoimmunity, organelle and/or cell biology and mouse models of human diseases.
Position Summary: The Research Scientist will work with the principal investigator, academic staff, graduate students or postdocs in the Biomolecular Chemistry Department to establish a robust research program. The research projects will be on the role of unfolded protein response in beta cell biology, its effect on immunne cells, inflammation particularly in the context of autoimmune diabetes. The work primarily involves molecular biology, cell biology, immunology and in vivo mouse experiments. Personal initiative, independence, strong organizational abilities and enthusiasm for laboratory research are essential.
