The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Department of Cell Biology has an exciting career opportunity for a Director, Business Operations. This position is directly responsible for the direction and management of fiscal planning, management accounting, budgets and audits, disbursements, personnel management, sponsored programs administration, space planning management, inventory control, general administration, and assisting or acting on behalf of the Chairman in dealing with faculty and various business and administrative offices of the University of Miami. The incumbent is to represent the department and its contacts with the private and public organizations and institutions and is directly responsible for the operations of the department.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a closely related field of study. At least three years of relevant work experience encompassing such areas as: fiscal planning, management accounting, budgets and audits, disbursements, personnel management, sponsored programs administration, space planning management, inventory control, and general administration. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines with limited resources and multiple competing priorities. Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to identify opportunities to improve process and leverage the time of the faculty and staff. Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities. Superior leadership skills and experience, particularly in cultivating a high-performing team, and in developing and maintaining excellent relations with staff at all levels. Demonstrated skills in effective communication (oral and written), interpersonal skills, leadership, problem solving, and conflict resolution. Excellent presentation, communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills and capabilities. Strong financial management skills as this individual must be able to identify opportunities to improve operating efficiency and effectively control expenses. Substantial experience in budgeting, preparing financial reports and financial analysis. Extensive experience with grant management is strongly preferred.
Experience with PC applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Highly detail oriented.

Patient safety is a top priority.
