The salary range for this classification is: $ 3,288 - $ 5,695 monthly.
Conditions of Employment
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate is required to complete a background check prior to assuming this position.

Department: Human Resources
Human Resources Management is a department unit which develops, coordinates, evaluates and implements effective human resources management programs, projects, and services designed to enhance the management of the universitys human resources in the area of classification, recruitment and selection, employee relations, benefits, workers compensation, training and career development, unemployment compensation, salary administration, and Payroll Services. The Human Resources Department is in the Division of Administration and Finance.
Under the general supervision of the Employment Manager, the incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of administrative responsibilities in support of the university's recruitment program and the maintenance of personnel records within Human Resources. Such responsibilities include assisting with the maintenance of the PeopleSoft Recruitment System, monitoring the status of active recruitments, providing assistance to job applicants in completing job applications, producing reports containing recruitment statistics, etc. May include reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness, validity, and adherence to standards, and preparing documents for processing. Assist with data entry in the PeopleSoft system.
Required Education: Bachelors degree and/or equivalent training.
Preferred Education: PHR or SPHR Certificate.
Required Experience: Administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
Preferred Experience: Three to five years of general clerical/administrative work experience in Human Resources or closely related field. Extensive computer experience and PeopleSoft preferred.
CSU system or public sector experience in Human Resources Management. General knowledge and skills in Human Resources with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, ability to understand standard office procedures, ability to operate standard office equipment,
- Ability to learn office technology systems and perform basic arithmetic calculations and typing skills.
- Ability to learn, interpret independently and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures.
- Ability to identify deviations from applicable policies.
- Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion and initiative to address routine problems.
- Ability to set priorities and organize multiple daily responsibilities and/or projects.
- General knowledge and skills in the Human Resources field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.

- Thorough knowledge of Human Resources programs and concepts. Must understand basic concepts and the work flow of filling recruitments.

Photocopier, fax machine, calculator, multi-telephone system and electronic scanning systems.
60% - Performs the following recruitment activities under the supervision of the Employment Manager:
Assist the Employment Manager in conducting Interview Committee Orientation for Staff and MPP recruitments; assist the Employment Manager in posting job advertisements in various publications/jobsites, and produce schedules for conducting recruitments; maintain applicant pools for substitute positions, assist with the screening of applicants; monitor the recruitment database and track recruitment schedules; review all recruitment and hiring documents to ensure that the interview process was conducted properly and in compliance with regulations/CBAs before proceeding with the Offer to Hire Checklist; send the Weekly Status Query of active CSU and Foundation recruitments, update as necessary; verify student assistant eligibility requirements for employment, input hire information into PeopleSoft, and activate Time & Labor; prepare and email appropriate notices to unsuccessful job applicants, close recruitments, scan recruitment files into the HR scanning system; prepare for the onboarding of new staff by preparing hiring documents for sign-ins, drafting appointment letters for the appropriate signature(s), entering information into PeopleSoft, and generating Employee ID numbers; monitor and track various metrics for recruitments for process improvement; recommend opportunities to improve the recruitment process.
30% - Data Entry Duties:
Data entry and analysis of student, staff, and faculty transactions using PeopleSoft; verify all hiring documents for accuracy prior to data entry; works closely with departments to ensure transactions are accurately submitted/processed; participate in data clean-up efforts and testing as needed to ensure the integrity of the data in PeopleSoft;
10% - Miscellaneous:
Provide correspondence for unemployment claims for the University. Other duties as assigned.
