Job Description:

The University of Florida's (UF) College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' (CLAS) Academic Advising Center (AAC) is accepting applications for a Pre-Health Academic Advisor position (12-month, non-tenure track faculty status). Applicants should have clear attention to detail with a strong ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, high traffic, dynamic environment; effective interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse populations; ability to work autonomously as well as within a team; an appreciation for both liberal arts and sciences and the developmental process towards pre-professional healthcare graduate admission process.

An interest in working with undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students pursuing admission to health professional programs is required. This position involves working with students at all levels one-on-one, in groups and through e-mail in order to provide guidance through a holistic pre-health preparation process. The advisor's responsibilities will include: advising on professional school requirements, presenting pre-health workshops, critiquing student resumes and personal statements, evaluating students during mock interviews and guiding them through the application submission process. Additional responsibilities will include but not be limited to: serving on the admission committee for the Pre-Health Post-Bac (PHPB) program, advising students in the CLAS Biology major and planning and participating in various extra-curricular pre-health programs and initiatives such as providing support to the pre-health Living Learning Community and interacting with health focused student organizations.

General Advising Duties:

As a member of the AAC team, this advisor is also expected to effectively advise undergraduate students in CLAS about academic requirements and policies, as well as students seeking admission to a CLAS major.  This advisor will also be called upon to participate in various AAC programs and initiatives and to serve as a liaison to other departments and centers in the college and other offices across campus.

Advertised Salary:

The salary range is $46,000 to $47,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:

A Master's degree is required, preferably in student personnel, higher education, counseling or related fields, along with relevant work experience.
