POSITION SUMMARY The Application Developer position supports the effective use of the College's administrative computer systems. This is done by providing business analysis, computer programming support, software troubleshooting, and working with students, faculty, and staff to accomplish the College's goals through the use of the ERP system(s). ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assists in the development, analysis, design, configuration, testing, implementation and documentation of computer-based applications. 2. Work closely with the user community to further integrate the College's ERP system functionality and improve related business processes. 3. Assist users with reporting requirements, applications development, and documentation. 4. Communicate with users to determine their programming requirements and investigate issues with current programs. 5. Design and program computer software to fulfill user requirements using proper applications development methodology and best practices. 6. Modify current programs to correct problems or to enhance programs to meet user current requirements. 7. Train functional area personnel on how to use new programs and systems. 8. Prepare detailed documentation of programs and systems. 9. Support IT staff with the integration of new technologies related to the current environment. 10. Maintain competency in emerging technologies related to the College's ERP systems. 11. Participate in the department and College's goals and objectives. 12. Perform related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, preferably in Computer Science / Information Technology or closely related field. 2. Two (2) years of applicable programming experience. 3. Excellent problem solving, writing, interpersonal, and communications skills; capable of managing multiple simultaneous projects/initiatives; self-motivated, goal oriented, and very customer focused. 4. Proven experience to independently analyze and conceptualize system designs to direct and/or implement appropriate technical solutions and modifications. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Experience with supporting business (ERP) applications in a Higher Education environment. 2. Working knowledge of UNIX/Windows systems, databases and query languages. 3. Experience with COLLEAGUE software package and related database(s). 4. Experience with Colleague Studio, Envision Toolkit and/or Unibasic programming. 5. Experience with Microsoft products, Web-based products and SQL reporting tools. 6. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of computer systems design and architecture with an underlying understanding of the integration of systems hardware, software and networks. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Normal office physical demands. 2. Ability to travel between campus locations. 3. Occasional travel for training/conferences is possible, both in state and nationally. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment. 2. Required use of computer equipment needed to accomplish administrative application programming and related activities.
