The HR Specialist/Investigator Sr. reports to the Assistant Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance (EOC) in Human Resources and conducts comprehensive investigations of internal and external complaints of discrimination, including but not limited to sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation. This position handles highly complex cases, to include conducting witness interviews, drafting investigative summaries and analyzing and formulating recommendations and referrals.
In addition, this position develops and conducts University wide training on sexual misconduct, equal employment opportunity, diversity & Inclusion and non-discrimination and provides expert advisement to the University community on such matters, to include, faculty, staff, students and administrators.
A Bachelor's degree in a related area and four years of related work experience.
Substantive knowledge of federal and state equal opportunity laws and regulations.
Experience in their application; demonstrated experience investigating, responding to, and developing recommendations for resolutions with regards to employment complaints.
Ability to communicate and present effectively, both verbally and in writing, as required for the needs of the audience. Knowledge of general office procedures including filing systems.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web applications or other compatible software.
Excellent customer service, strong interpersonal, critical listening, and problem solving skills.
Experience working accurately with detailed information and in a deadline driven environment.
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately and exhibit a high degree of discretion and sound judgment.
Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution, with specialization and/or experience in employment/EEO/labor law. Experience working in a higher education setting.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
