Academic Advisor

Job Summary: The Academic Advisor will meet with students and prospective students and provide accurate, current curricular information on undergraduate programs; assist in short-term and long-term academic program planning; refer students to other support services / units on campus; provide assistance with program changes (class drops and adds and major changes), and career plans; assist in recruitment and retention efforts which progresses our students toward graduation. This is a full-time, exempt position located on the Chicago campus. This position reports to the Director of Academic Advising. Some evening and weekend hours required.

Working Hours:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: A bachelor's degree. A minimum of 1 year of experience in a college environment working within student development or academic advising. Ability to use computerized student information systems and personal computing software. Proven ability to perform assigned administrative duties focused on supporting our advising, recruitment, and retention efforts. Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail. Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt's core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. A positive and professional demeanor is a must. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook. #CB

Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree preferred and 1 year of experience. Familiarity with Ellucian/Banner preferred.
