Job Description

The Undergraduate Recruiter located at Florida Southwestern State College provides admissions counseling to prospective students and their families. Assists with student recruitment initiatives and coordinates special recruitment programs, events, and activities for undergraduate students.



Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization. Candidates whose degree will be conferred by May 22, 2017 are eligible to apply for this position.

Two years of experience in student recruitment, admissions, or related field.

Ability to travel throughout the state of Florida.



Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Experience in higher education, public relations, communication, or public speaking.

Bilingual: English/Spanish and/or English/Creole.

•Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to diversity, client/service attitude, and follow-up.

•Ability to counsel students from different cultural backgrounds.

•Ability to work as part of a team or independently.

•Ability to foster and develop relationships with high schools and community organizations.

•Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office software.



Salary Range $37,700

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties

•Provides admissions counseling to Florida Southwestern State College students, other transfer students, first time in college students, and their families on the admissions process, admission requirements, and subsequent enrollment.

•Provides counseling on the selection process and requirements to students.

•Participates in and supports the development of recruitment plans for programs, events, and activities for undergraduate students.

•Assists in the management, administration, and implementation of the university procedures and programs for student recruitment initiatives.

•Attends conferences and workshops to promote the University recruitment efforts. Responds to inquiries regarding activities, programs, and events.

•Develops an organized system of communication and follow-up process with potential students and counselors.

•Develops professional relationships with high school and community college counselors.

•Conducts extensive overnight travel during fall and spring student recruitment to college fairs and high schools in assigned territory.

•Develops budget recommendations.

•Participates in and monitors budgetary planning for assigned programs.

•Responsible for substantial travel expenditures.

•Responsible for all assigned university equipment and vehicles.

•Represents the University both on- and off-campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.



Other Duties

•Performs additional duties as assigned within the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
