I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

Facilities, a department in Division of Operation's Facilities and Campus Development under the Executive Vice President and Treasurer's portfolio, manages and maintains GW's property and grounds on all three of GW's campuses. This includes housekeeping, routine and emergency maintenance, moving services, pest control, project management, life safety upkeep, HVAC repairs, grounds maintenance, and recycling/waste management. Our maintenance team includes electricians, carpenters, painters, HVAC technicians, locksmiths, and plumbers.

The Plumber reports to the Plumbing Supervisor. The incumbent's main duties include:
• Installing, maintaining, and repairing pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing used for water distribution and water waste disposal.
• Testing and repairing backflows
• Plumber may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Duties include following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment. Employees may review blueprints, building codes, and specifications to determine work details, assess material and equipment needs, establish the sequence of pipe installations, and plan installation around obstructions.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED, or equivalent combination of training and experience, is necessary plus 1.5 years of relevant experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to lift items that weigh at least 40 pounds.

Ability to physically perform job duties, including walking, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, pushing or pulling of equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Possession of a Backflow Prevention Certification and a valid driver's license.
