College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: Clinical and Visiting Faculty (all ranks)- Department of Statistics
The Department of Statistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for visiting or clinical assistant/associate/full professor positions in Statistics and Data Science (up to 100% for 9 months). Visiting positions are for one year with the option of renewing yearly subject to performance and funding up to three years; clinical positions are annually renewable subject to performance and funding. Part-time appointments less than 50% will be made as Adjunct Clinical Asst/Assoc/Full Professor or Adjunct Asst/Assoc/Full Professors. Part time appointments at 50% or higher and 100% appointments will be made as Clinical Asst/Assoc/Full Professor or Visiting Asst/Assoc/Full Professors. Areas of emphasis include statistical methods for big data, computational statistics, biological and health sciences, statistical machine learning, causal inference, graphical models and sampling and design for large-scale studies, but all areas of statistics and data Science are welcome.
Applicants must have a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering or related field at time of appointment. Applicants at the visiting assistant professor level must show potential to publish in peer-reviewed disciplinary journals, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching. Applicants at the visiting associate/full professor level must have an advanced research record, strong teaching record and a level of accomplishment commensurate with a senior rank appointment. Applicants for Clinical faculty positions must demonstrate a commitment to applied research, excellent teaching and professional development of students and professional experience commensurate with the rank being sought. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession. The anticipated starting date is August 16, 2017. Salary is competitive.
The Department of Statistics is a vibrant, growing department with over 400 undergraduate majors, over 150 graduate students, and a rich history of research in statistical theory and methods as well as interdisciplinary applications.
