Duties: Under limited supervision, establish and execute a wide range of molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry techniques in a newly formed lab. Research is focused on super-resolution microscopy and its applications to intracellular transport and chromatin organization.

Research Specialist C:
Perform molecular cloning including sequencing, plasmid design and delivery into mammalian cells via transfection. Design and execute biochemical experiments. Generate and maintain stable cell lines. Conduct protein purification, Western Blot, and other biochemical techniques. Label antibodies with fluorescent dyes. Generate graphs and diagrams for publications and contribute to the preparation of grant proposals and manuscripts. Perform lab maintenance and prep work, including preparation of solutions and reagents. Monitor, maintain, and order supplies. Ensure that equipment is maintained and serviced. Supervise and train laboratory personnel including students.

Research Specialist D:
All duties listed above plus:
Design and execute Crispr/Cas9 gene editing technology. Design and execute live cell microscopy experiments. Analyze data including statistical analysis using custom and third party software. Write technical protocols, maintain records and laboratory journals. Develop content for grant proposals and manuscripts.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: Research Specialist C:
A B.A./B.S. Degree in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or related field; Master's Degree preferred; and 3 years to 5 years of lab experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required with extensive experience in molecular and cell biology and biochemistry techniques required. Competency in cloning, primer construct, PCR, gel and PCR purification highly desirable. Highly motivated individual, must have strong organizational skills, good oral and written communication skills, and be able to work independently and be a team player.

Research Specialist D:
A Master's Degree in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or related field; Ph.D. Degree preferred; and 3 years to 5 years of lab experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required with extensive experience in molecular and cell biology and biochemistry techniques required. Competency in cloning, primer construct, PCR, gel and PCR purification highly desirable. Highly motivated individual, must have strong organizational skills, good oral and written communication skills, and be able to work independently and be a team player. Ability to coordinate multiple projects independently.
