Experience Requirement: All qualified applicants will be considered, but preference will be given to those with a successful record of teaching at the university, secondary, and elementary levels. Kodaly certification is also highly desirable. Applicants should have a clear research/publication agenda and record in music education practices and research methods.
Usual Duties: Duties: Teach Choral Methods, conduct one choral ensemble and other courses appropriate to the individual's background/experience and School of Music needs; contribute to the oversight and teaching of music education students; establish positive relationships with public school choral programs; collaborate with Director of Choral Activities to develop recruiting activities.
Degree Requirements: Qualifications: Completed PhD in Music Education (or equivalent) with an emphasis in choral music, or significant progress towards the degree (the candidate must complete doctoral work within the first semester of hire).
Other Requirements for the Position: Successful candidates will demonstrate potential to develop a national/international reputation as a research scholar in music education, display a commitment to the education of future music teachers, and contribute to the artistic mission of the choral area within the School of Music.
