About The Unit: The Office of College Aid is available year-round to assist students and families in making a world-class University of Chicago education affordable. We follow federal, state and university policies to allow our students to achieve and exceed their educational goals.

Unit Job Summary: The Financial Aid Advisor serves as the first line of contact many students and families receive with our office; it is critical to leave a positive, lasting impression on our visitors. The Advisor is responsible for greeting visitors; light advising duties with walk-in traffic, phones, as well as email; and maintaining the professional and orderly appearance of the front office/reception area. The Financial Aid Advisor performs an integral role in providing superior customer service to our students and families. Responsibilities include greeting visitors to the office and providing friendly and efficient service; advising students and parents about aid application materials; accept application materials being submitted by students and entering them in our system; answering calls and emails from students and families and forwarding to counselors for follow-up when appropriate; and maintaining the professional appearance of the reception area of the office. Additional duties as assigned may be: notifying students of outside scholarship checks that require signatures; disbursing foreign student stipends; assisting counselors with special projects.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Unit Experience: A minimum of two years' experience (or equivalent) in a position involving extensive contact with the public/customer service required One year of experience in a financial aid office setting is preferred.
