Web Designer, (Prof Serv Spec, 2)-AFT
Rowan University is seeking a Web Designer to support web-based projects through University Web Services located in the Division of Student Life. Under the coordination of the Web Services Director, responsibilities include, but are not limited to: working with a team to develop campaign based pages and sites to support campus wide initiatives; translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce the visual elements of the site; designing webpage layouts; developing new user-facing features; optimizing sites for maximum speed and scalability; and general development as required, using a variety of tools, languages, and operating systems. Some evening and weekend hours possibly required. The position level and pay rate will be based on experience and qualifications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
o Design and development of web pages/sites, and web-based applications.
o Development in Bootstrap(or another comparable grid based framework), HTML/CSS, SASS, jQuery, and basic PHP.
o Design in Drupal and other web content management systems such as WordPress and Cascade when necessary.
o Researching and implementing the latest industry web standards and best practices throughout the Rowan University website.
o General development and design as required, using a variety of tools, languages, and operating systems.
o Some evening and weekend hours possibly required.REQUIREMENTS:All applicants must have the following qualifications:
o Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent education.o At least three (3) years of professional applicable experience in web design.
o Expert understanding of responsive design, HTML/CSS, grid based designs, jQuery, Sass, and Bootstrap(or other comparable grid based frameworks).
o Image editing and basic design through the Adobe Suite.
o Understanding basic PHP and general web programming concepts.
o Ability to work independently AND as part of a larger web development team; solving problems with minimal supervision.
o Experience interacting with end users and project clients (those with or without technical skill) throughout design development process.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
