Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an application for a Trades Specialist IV. Under limited supervision will be required to perform maintenance and repairs of campus buildings and building machinery/equipment. Will work closely with food service contractors, kitchen equipment repair contractors and repair technicians, keeps data on all kitchen equipment repairs. Coordinates inspection and repairs of the kitchen exhaust hood with hood cleaning contractor. Accompanies DEHC inspector through facilities, notes all facility related write-ups and submits work request to accomplish repairs.

Required to perform services and repairs in accordance with codes, standards, verbal and written instructions. Perform repairs so that end result meets or exceeds original design for form and function. Must maintain good communication with supervisors, building coordinators and department representatives. Ensure safety and environmental compliance with all pertinent and statutory requirements.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma and five (5) years' experience in related trade areas carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair and painting or general commercial building maintenance. Must be able to apply these principals to repairs/remodeling, maintenance and new construction. Must be skilled in the use of hand, power tools and associated construction equipment. Required to interpret site plans and blue prints.

Must be able to work with limited supervision using written and oral instructions independently or as a team member. Customer service oriented and be able to interface with various levels of personnel from trade's workers to vice presidents.

Will have to work some weekends, some overtime, holidays and off peak hours with possible callouts 24 hours a day. Must have full use of all extremities and be able to stoop, kneel, bend and work from ladders, scaffolding and roofs and platforms at elevations up to 150 feet. Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. waist high and carry for a distance of 15 ft., be able to work in environments of temperature and humidity extremes and be able to work in confined and poorly ventilated spaces.

Work conditions may require working in adverse weather conditions and varying temperatures. Must be capable of using different types of personal safety equipment including but not limited to respiratory, hearing, eye and face protective equipment.
