PROGRAM SPECIALIST - ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
Salisbury University is accepting applications for the full-time, exempt position of Program Specialist for the Department of Environmental Studies.
Primary Job Duties: This unique non-faculty position is designed to support the faculty and students within the Department of Environmental Studies and the department's (and University's) mission of outreach within the larger non-university community. The successful applicant will be expected to have a range of skills, requiring her/him to: perform administrative support work and budget management; teach a section of the freshman level “Introduction to Sustainability” course; work with the Green Floor Living-Learning Community; provide community outreach; represent the department with relevant governmental, NGO, and business groups related to the environment; coordinate internships for the department; promote and lead extra-curricular experiential opportunities for students; as well as, perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree; professional experience in environmental organizations or education; willingness to work outside of regular office hours including evenings and weekends; a valid driver's license; and, ability to lead students in field experiences.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Environmental Studies or other discipline with an environmental focus. Detail oriented person with: 1) proven ability to manage budgets and provide administrative support for complex programs or NGOs; 2) experience teaching or leading environmental education programs; 3) strong communication skills (written and oral); 4) demonstrated interest in/knowledge of community based environmental organizations.
