The University of California-Irvine, Department of Pediatrics is recruiting a Clinician-Scientist in to join its growing program in Developmental Neuroplasticity related to early-life experience, with a focus on Exercise. The position will interact with the strong Neuroepigenetics programs at UCI as well as the Pediatric Exercise Research Center. The successful candidate will be a Board eligible or certified, residency-trained Child Neurologist, He/she will have significant Neuroscience research experience, with a track-record in impactful publications and ideally a PhD degree. Experience in Epigenetic approaches is a strong asset. This is a tenure-track academic appointment at the Assistant Professor level, and carries significant salary, start-up and protected time support, with a moderate clinical component. Salary will be commensurate with training and experience. UC Irvine, located in Orange County, with a population of more than three million, has a long and distinguished tradition of excellence in Neuroscience.
This position is being offered with full-time equivalent support from the UCI School of Medicine Program in Medical Education for the Latino Community, which trains medical students and residents to be outstanding clinicians and leaders for poor and disenfranchised Latino communities. Interested candidates should have interest or background in caring for Latino patients and an interest in health disparities. She or he will assist in the admissions and training of PRIME-LC students.
Requirements: We invite applicants with Pediatrics and Child Neurology training who are or expect to be board certified. Successful candidates must hold an MD degree and a record of significant Neuroscience research experience, including high-quality publications. A PhD degree and experience in Epigenetic approaches are preferred. Candidates who demonstrate the ability to be competitive for extramural funding (e.g., current funding or submitted applications for mentored or independent awards, particularly from the NIH) are especially sought. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop an extramural funded research program at a high level of accomplishment, leading to national and international recognition.
