Duties: This is a part-time position with the Center for Health Behavior Research (CHBR), Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. The research assistant position involves performing tasks for a large, multi-site, federally-funded food environment study. The research assistant will travel to designated supermarkets and/or other food retail stores (e.g., corner stores) in the great Philadelphia region, including southern New Jersey and Delaware. Specific duties include: recruiting research participants; completing food environment surveys; monitoring compliance to a healthy in-store marketing intervention program in supermarkets; conducting milk taste tests with shoppers in grocery stores; and other tasks as required. Other responsibilities include preparing research field trip forms and materials, maintaining contact with research participants by phone, mail and email, completing data entry, cleaning and filing tasks, and other study specific duties as assigned. The research assistant will attend regular meetings, work with and report to investigators, research manager, coordinators, and interact with research participants and grocery store managers and staff.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: High school diploma and 3-5 years of experience in research data collection or customer service is required; BS preferred. Position requires travel to supermarkets in the Philadelphia, southern New Jersey and Delaware region. Must be able to conduct participant interviews in English, have a valid driver's license and be comfortable driving to supermarket locations. Candidates should be good team members and be able to maintain a professional demeanor with research participants.
