RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: Position for a lab manager/technician is available for experimental research as well as management of a laboratory. The positions requires conducting experimental research involving studies on the function of various tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes in inhibition of cell proliferation and apoptosis, using various cell and molecular biology techniques and mouse models. Management of a laboratory involves ordering supplies, keeping inventories for various experimental reagents, maintenance of the laboratory, and assisting PI in recruitment of new personnel.
Position is contingent upon continued funding.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in biology, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, chemistry or other related field and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The candidate should possess experience working on plasmid DNA preparation, DNA sub-cloning, cell culture, Western blotting analysis, and RT-PCR. Mouse model experience is also desirable. The candidate should be able to use MS Word and Excel to keep inventories of plasmid constructs, cell lines, and other experimental results and reagents. Previous experience in lab management is highly desirable but not required.
