ADULT NUTRITION EDUCATION COORDINATOR
Duties: AUNI is seeking a dynamic adult educator to join our team in the role of Adult Senior Nutrition Program (ASNP) Coordinator. The ASNP Coordinator works with adults in a variety of venues, including senior centers, libraries, food pantries, and health care facilities to conduct healthy shopping, eating, and cooking workshops.
AUNI, as part of the Netter Center for Community Partnerships (NCCP), engages adults and senior citizens in food and nutrition education programming and events. Our Adult Senior Nutrition Program uses SNAP Education to promote health and prevent disease. Our program builds upon USDA SNAP-Ed resources such as MyPlate, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and Physical Activity Guidelines and and works to increase awareness and understanding of food systems. AUNI's programming in communities includes: nutrition education and hands on cooking demonstrations, as well as caregiver engagement in University Assisted Community Schools.
AUNI coordinators work closely with ABCS courses and facilitate connections to faculty partners who are using a participatory action research framework. AUNI coordinators also work with undergraduate fellows, work-study students and volunteers to help develop, implement and expand this work. There are weekly and monthly documentation and reporting requirements with time-sensitive deadlines. Occasionally, staff is asked to work evening and/or weekend. Flexibility with weekly schedule is necessary.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 1 year to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience and training in nutrition or health education related subject is preferred. Working knowledge of nutrition, food safety, health disparities, and food systems preferred. Experience in urban settings is preferred. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and interact respectfully with diverse groups. Familiar with challenges that impact urban adult populations.
Demonstrated experience of ability to work collaboratively with school and community based organizations.
