Duties: The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is a complex R & D organization consisting of research laboratories supported by multiple core functions which provide internal capacity to perform gene transfer studies from basic research through phase 1 proof-of-concept human trials.

The Orphan Disease Center (ODC) was created to facilitate translational research and therapy development to address the prevalence of certain orphan diseases that affect a marginalized population of individuals internationally.

As a member of the Fiscal Operations team, the Financial Admin Coordinator will participate in the design and implementation of new efficient processes for procure to pay, payroll, expense reimbursement, petty cash etc. for GTP and ODC to ensure accuracy and timeliness of activities. The incumbent holds responsibilities including, but not limited to processing and managing departmental payroll and time reporting, preparing and sending invoices, processing departmental purchases, processing non-employee travel reimbursement requests, processing ProCard reallocations, and maintaining the petty cash account. He/she will assist with preparing, analyzing, and reconciling financial reports for non sponsored programs and non service center funds, encumbrance balances, accounts payable, purchasing contract management, and payroll on a regular basis. The Financial Admin Coordinator will have a full understanding of the chart of accounts to allow him/her to process purchase orders and expenses to be booked to the correct areas in the general ledger.

This position will be cross trained in several areas and will provide backup support to others within the GTP/ODC Fiscal Operations team.

GTP is a dynamic, fast-paced, ever-changing work environment. Selected candidate must be able to prioritize work assignments. Special projects may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications: The minimum of a High School diploma and 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. College degree or coursework is a plus. Previous experience in academic setting preferred. Knowledge of basic accounting practices, financial reporting, and variance analysis required. Individual must be detail oriented and organized. Strong proficiency in Excel and the entire Microsoft Office Suite preferred. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and quick learner, a strong team player able to work in a dynamic environment. Experience with university financial systems preferred. Knowledge of Business Objects and BEN Financials a plus. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
