Position Summary: The successful candidate will become part of our Process Recovery and Purification Team and, under the direction of the team leader, will be responsible for the recovery of a variety of products from fermentation broth. The candidate will be operating equipment, running experiments and generating data from lab scale to 3000 liter pilot scale.

Faculty: Minimum Qualifications Support Staff: Minimum Requirements Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training such as that acquired in two to three years of college, technical, vocational, trade or business school with coursework in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a laboratory; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Typing Requirements (wpm):

Desired Qualifications: Hands-on experience with fermentation; experience with sterile technique; ability to connect assigned tasks to the larger objectives; excellent mechanical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills; organizational skills and strong attention to detail; very good written and oral communication skills; proficiency with computers, especially MS Excel; ability to work in a fast-paced, changing setting; excellent teamwork skills to effectively and respectfully work in and across teams.

Summary of Health Risks and Physical Demands (if applicable): Duties associated with this position involve wearing a respirator (does not include paper dust mask worn for comfort), spraying or mixing organophosphates or carbamate insecticides; working in noisy (at or above 85 decibels) areas; risks that have been identified by Environmental Health and Safety, such as exposure to lead, chemotherapy, formaldehyde, asbestos, phenols and acids; lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs and pushing / pulling up to 200 lbs.
