Job Summary: The mission of the UW Madison Intercollegiate Athletics Office of Human Resources is to engage as a strategic business partner to develop and deliver innovative, efficient and effective human resources programs and services.
This position will utilize knowledge of and resources for the Human Resources System (HRS) to perform a wide range of human resources assistant functions. Responsibilities will include: oversight of temporary employee, Academic hourly and student hourly recruitment, assessment, selection and termination processes, paperwork and procedures.
In addition, the incumbent will assist the Athletic Department Human Resources Team with a variety of human resources and payroll functions; assist in preparation and retention of human resources files; work with supervisors and process initial employment paperwork including temporary employee request/reports, I-9s, W-4s, direct deposit forms and Athletic Department specific forms and data; enter appointment information in the University's HRS or JEMS systems and forward payroll information to staff; manage monthly leave accounting processes for permanent staff; provide reports and answer divisional inquiries on human resources issues (rates, percentages, temporary employee hour limits, leave balances, etc.); assist with automated timekeeping system entering initial set up date, scheduling time clocks and schedules, produce reports for supervisors and payroll input, and; act as backup for payroll for biweekly and monthly payrolls.
The incumbent will demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisors, co-workers, and customers. In addition, it is expected that the incumbent will maintain confidentiality of sensitive information using tact and discretion and use effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit. The incumbent will present ideas, carry out assignments, and provide information as requested.
Schedule Comment: Monday-Friday, 7:45am-4:30pm, some overtime may be required, as needed.
