Assistant Professor, Nutrition Science

Full-Time, Tenure Track Position

Position Summary:         

Dominican University Nutrition Science Department seeks candidates for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor for August 2017.  Primary responsibilities include teaching Medical Nutrition Therapy courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level and will teach 3 courses per semester including both introductory and advanced courses. Other responsibilities include: advising undergraduate and graduate students, conducting research, and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional and academic practice. The successful candidate will establish working relationships with new colleagues in the College of Health Sciences, develop relationships with local/regional food and nutrition related businesses to benefit the program, and facilitate the development of volunteer opportunities in the community.  All faculty are encouraged and expected to participate in University life and governance, as well as continuing professional development and scholarship.

 

Qualifications: 

Qualified applicants will have a PhD in food and nutrition with a related area of expertise; RD/R.D.N. is preferred. Applicants should also have teaching experience and excellent classroom and interpersonal skills. Experience with distance and/or hybrid educational delivery formats is desired. Proven administrative and organizational skills are desired. A commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students is required.
