Summary of Duties:
The Sponsored Programs and Travel Management Analyst for Washington State University's Modernization Initiative analyzes, monitors, and implements process improvement initiatives, which includes preparation for the implementation of enterprise software for human resources, payroll, and finance.

Duties include project management, recommending process improvement, data identification and analysis for moving to a new enterprise system, and preparing personnel for new systems and updates. The incumbent must use critical judgment to interpret and apply rules and regulations, as well as State and University policies. The incumbent needs to be a self-motivated individual who can work independently with little supervision. The incumbent serves as an expert resource for department customers on policy, procedure, and best practices related to sponsored programs and travel reimbursements.

Organizational Relationships:
Partners closely with broader HR and Finance work stream members in a cross-functional and collaborative work environment. Works with university stakeholder groups as a lead or participant in workgroups. Routinely engages with end users on a variety of topics.

Early projects this position will work on:
After gaining a basic understanding of current WSU sponsored programs and travel reimbursement rules and required outcomes: recommend efficiencies, assist in preparing for a formal Request for Proposals for HR, Payroll, and Finance software, participate in the WSU data modeling exercise, participate in policy review and revision exercises, and participate in the design, testing, and implementation of a university organizational chart. Other projects will be assigned as the initiative moves forward.

The Modernization Initiative is an evolving project where all team members are expected to be hands on in the day-to-day activities. All team members are expected to be able to tolerate high levels of change, juggle competing priorities, request and accept work assignments from a variety of individuals.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or related field AND three (3) years of professional experience in procedural, management or business analysis work; OR, a combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years from which comparable knowledge and ability are acquired.
