The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Augusta University offers an MS and a PhD program in Biostatistics, and a Masters and a Certificate program in Clinical and Translational Science. Immediate future plans include developing graduate programs in Epidemiology. The new faculty members will join a highly interdisciplinary faculty and will play an integral role in the ongoing expansion of research and education at Augusta University. The academic departments, and centers and institutes such as the Georgia Prevention Institute, the Institute of Public and Preventive Health, the Cancer Center, the Center for Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine, the Sickle Cell Center and the Educational Innovation Institute at Augusta University provide rich opportunities for interdisciplinary research. The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology in the Medical College of Georgia at the Augusta University invites applications for tenure track or tenured faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. All candidates must show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates for Associate or Full Professor should have a nationally and internationally recognized record of innovative and leading-edge methodological research, genuine interest in interdisciplinary collaborations in translational research, successful track record of extramural funding support, strong ability and interest in teaching and mentoring students, and demonstrated leadership potential. Candidates for Assistant Professor should provide evidence of outstanding methodological and interdisciplinary research potential and should, preferably, have relevant postdoctoral training.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biostatistics, epidemiology or a closely related field. Experience and demonstrated interest in cancer research, clinical trials, computational biology, genomics, public health or statistical bioinformatics is highly desirable. Interest and ability in active collaboration with investigators in biomedical and public health research within and outside of Augusta University will be an important factor in the selection of candidates as will teaching experience in graduate courses.
Academic rank, tenure status and salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
